Spicy Beef Burger
For the Spicy Mayo
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1-2 tbsp hot sauce ((adjust to taste))
- 1 tsp lime juice
- Salt to taste
For the Toppings:
- 4 burger buns
- Sliced jalapeños ( (fresh or pickled))
- Pepper jack cheese ( (optional))
- Lettuce
- Tomato slices
- Red onion slices
- Avocado slices ( (optional))
For the Burger Patties:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef ((80% lean))
- 1-2 tbsp hot sauce ( (adjust to taste))
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper ((optional, for extra heat))
- Salt and pepper to taste
Prepare the Spicy Mayo:
In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, hot sauce, lime juice, and salt. Set aside.
Make the Burger Patties:
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, hot sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty.
Cook the Patties:
Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness. If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
Toast the Buns:
While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
Assemble the Burgers:
Spread a generous amount of spicy mayo on the bottom half of each bun. Place the cooked patty on top, then add jalapeños, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and avocado if desired. Top with the other half of the bun.
Serve:
Serve immediately with your favorite sides, like fries or a salad.
